How to reinvigorate your body for spring

How to reinvigorate your body for spring

We all know spring is the perfect time to clean your home, but have you ever considered a spring clean for your body?

Every cell in your body needs a chance to detox debris that might be sitting there from those heavy, high-fat foods you consumed all winter, and possibly even from some toxins that accumulated.

Regularly cleansing and detoxifying your body will help you prevent illnesses and ease symptoms of, and possibly even reverse, many common and serious health challenges.

Start this internal cleanse by cleaning up what you feed your body. Once you have done that, you will feel invigorated and inspired to head into summer with renewed energy and vitality.

Keep in mind that as you purge toxins from your body, you may feel worse before you feel better. This is completely normal and nothing to become alarmed about.

Stay hydrated

Being hydrated is so important for helping your body in the detox process. Always start your day with a glass of fresh, clean filtered or spring water and include several glasses mostly between meals throughout the day.

After one plain glass of water in the morning, I suggest having a second glass with a squeeze of fresh organic lemon or lime juice to hydrate your cells and detox and rejuvenate your liver.

Another great alternative to using the lemon or lime is adding raw, unpasteurized apple cider vinegar to some water. This is not only excellent for the liver and gallbladder support, but it also provides your digestive system with beneficial bacteria.

Drink your veggies

Drinking fresh vegetable juices with a little fresh fruit juice thrown in to the mix is an amazing way to detox your body while providing nourishment. Since your body is not working hard to digest heavy foods and fiber, the nutrients from fresh juices are able to be absorbed directly into every cell of your body.

This also allows your cells to dispose of anything unwanted while getting a boost of antioxidants and phytonutrients.

Combine greens, celery and cucumber, and add carrots and beets or a green apple for flavor and sweetness. Try dandelion, the green of choice, to rejuvenate your liver in the spring. You should also try wheatgrass juice, as it is always a fantastic choice for detoxifying and alkalizing your body. Parsley and cilantro are also beneficial in assisting the body’s natural detoxification process.

Eat whole foods

Eat a whole plant-based food diet while cleansing and detoxing. This includes a diet rich in fresh fruits and smoothies, salads and wraps, light soups and steamed veggies with brown rice or quinoa. Include vegetables from the cruciferous family, which includes broccoli, cauliflower, kale, collard greens, bok choy and cabbage.

By eliminating processed foods loaded with unhealthy fats and sugars and chemicals, you will dramatically improve your health and well being, as well as promote your body’s natural detoxification process.

Go organic

Choose organic foods whenever possible to avoid consuming pesticides, herbicides and fungicides. Doing this will help you continue to eliminate toxins from your body.
